The elevation and the windage with their respective indications.

The Sightmark Presidio 5-30x56 Riflescope with Illuminated LR2 Reticle is designed for hunters who want the performance to successfully engage game at medium to long ranges. The easy-to-use, quick-adjust tactical turrets produce crisp, distinct clicks, while external knurling adds a tactile feel and gives hunters added confidence on the hunt. The scope is constructed from a one-piece 30mm tube made of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, black anodized, with a long, wide bell to accommodate the 56mm objective lens, making it rugged and durable. Multi-coated optics provide impeccable image clarity, vivid color, and superior light transmission.

The Sightmark Presidio 5-30×56 LR2 riflescope here mounted on a Sabatti for long range shooting

Waterproof and dustproof to IP67 specifications, the Presidio riflescope excels in the harshest conditions and is ideal for a variety of firearms, including ARs and bolt-action rifles, up to .338 caliber. Included in the package are a flip-up lens cover, a convenient zoom adjustment lever, and a CR2032 battery to power the reticle.

The red illuminated LR2 reticle allows for distance calculation and compensations.

The red illuminated LR2 reticle offers low-light visibility and excellent contrast, as well as a proper view for every shot. It is engraved in the first focal plane, so it magnifies with the image as the magnification increases, so you can always calculate the range to the target and make compensations. It is based on the thousandth of a radian (MRAD or MIL), a unit of angular measurement that equals 3,6 inches at 100 yards (9,14 cm at 91,4 m), and can be used on moving targets, to determine the range to the target, compensate for ballistic drop (provided the ballistic coefficient of the projectile used is known) and windage. The vertical and horizontal graduations feature 0,5 MIL marks for target estimation and compensation. The tops and sides of the scales feature 0,1 MIL marks for precise ranging. The reticle drop lines feature a series of circular marks for windage compensation. Finally, the 0,3 MIL center reticle provides a reference for precision shooting. Each click corresponds to 0,1 MRAD and moves the point of impact by 1 cm at 100 meters. A version of the same riflescope is available with the simpler HDR2 (Hunter Dot Reticle 2), designed to speed up the acquisition of the center reference, for short and medium distances.

The turret with the parallax ring and the reticle illumination ring.

The exposed turrets are low profile: the windage adjustment is typically on the left with the indication of right shift (“R”), the elevation adjustment is on the top with the indication of the direction “up”. The integrated zero lock function eliminates uncertainty, facilitates use and ensures precision in practical use. On the right are, together, but with two different diameters for separate adjustment, the parallax ring and the reticle illumination ring, inside which is the battery compartment with its cap. To activate the illumination, you need to rotate the illumination ring from the 0 (off) position to 6, with an OFF function between the levels. Level 6 is preferable for well-lit outdoor environments. Level 1 is preferable in low-light conditions.

The eyepiece features diopter adjustment and zoom ring with screw lever.

The eyepiece is equipped with a diopter adjustment, right next to the lens. To change the magnification, instead, you need to rotate the appropriate ring, larger and more shifted towards the turrets, possibly helping yourself with the convenient screw lever (to be screwed into the appropriate threaded hole on the ring), up to the desired magnification level.

The telescope bell has a 56mm lens positioned quite inside, in a safe position.

Of course, you need to get used to the reticle and find the right combination of red illumination to make the most of its potential, but the scope still performs its functions very well and proves to be efficient and robust. I have tried it on several occasions and have never had any particular difficulties. Zeroing is simple and, afterwards, the turrets can be set to the “0” reference on the rings and the zero lock ring can be mounted on the elevation turret. The dimensions are not exactly small, but in line with similar optical devices. The price of the optic is also commensurate with its quality, indeed it appears very convenient.
