As reported byLombard Hunters Association, the MEP Lara Comi has decided to submit a question to the Commission in Brussels on the effective role of ISPRA (Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) for what concerns the small migratory. In fact, the institute has not provided data on these animals for many years now. It is at least five years old and the question was aimed at highlight the current difficulties of Italy.
Furthermore, the initiative is a due act and not a technical step, pending the meeting with the European Commissioner for the Environment. Mrs Comi was also supported by Renata Briano, Paolo De Castro, Salvatore Cicu e Remo Sernagiotto, all signatories to the question. As the MEP explained, hunting associations were met and it was discovered that there are no data relating to small quantities precisely because ISPRA does not make them available.
This element is specified by the Birds Directive, therefore it is necessary to verify whether or not it has been transposed with regard to this point. In the absence of numbers and data for the calculation of the small amount the derogation from the directive cannot be applied correctly.
