National assembly in Rome
Starting with the 2019 FIDC has started a social and environmental reporting process entrusted to an external third-party company which aims to represent on an objective and comparable basis the social value generated on the national territory through the multiple initiatives conducted by its sections at municipal, provincial and regional level. From this objective was born the Federcaccia Social Report, now in its 4th edition, the results of which were illustrated during the National Assembly held in Rome. From the data collected - although not yet covering 100% of the sections - we can see a number of initiatives carried out by the Federation at a territorial level during 2022 equal to 485, of which 257 social initiatives, 83 environmental initiatives and 145 initiatives more strongly linked to hunting activity in the strict sense.
The promotion of hunting
From the analysis of the environmental and social issues considered most relevant for all the stakeholders who gravitate around the Federation and its activities, two lines of strong interest in particular were highlighted: one so to speak "external", which concentrates the commitment of the structure in the promotion of sustainable hunting and in the protection and management of fauna and the environment, and an "internal" one, aimed at its members and developed above all in the protection of different forms of hunting, in training, protection of health and safety and in the insurance protection of members. In line with past years, the social economic impact generated by the socio-environmental initiatives was also quantified, which is equal to approximately 2,7 million euros, with an average impact per initiative of €8.017. The environmental initiatives, although fewer in number than the social initiatives, allow us to estimate an economic and social impact equal to 2.095.519,78 euros, representing approximately 77% of the total with an average impact equal to 25.247,23 euros.
Environmental initiatives
The framework of the distribution of environmental initiatives highlights a deep commitment of the Federation in various dimensions of environmental protection. In particular, 59% of these initiatives are dedicated to environmental protection activities, an area that underlines the Federation's focus on the conservation and protection of ecosystems. Equally significant is the 34% allocated to wildlife management activities. Finally, the remaining 7% is dedicated to health surveillance initiatives, underlining the Federation's attention to public health. The social initiatives, superior in quantity, are estimated to have produced a social and economic impact of €630.267,24 with an average impact for each initiative of €2.452,40. Comparing the data with 2021, it is estimated that the social impact generated has more than doubled - over 2,7 million euros compared to 1,3 million in 2021 - confirming FIdC's role as a central player in promoting an activity sustainable hunting and highlighting the concrete fact, based on objective data and not simple "impressions", that hunting does not represent a cost for society, but rather a primary resource.
Further considerations
Other considerations emerge from the 2022 Social Budget of the Federation. The demographic composition of the social body is confirmed with almost 45% of members aged around 50, with a general average age of 60, once again dispelling the myth of the "old" hunter and hunting as an outdated activity. In this sense, the data confirming a clear increase in female hunters is also significant, with a 50% increase compared to 2021. The commitment to information and communication on hunting and environmental issues has also been rewarded. Communication channels and social media are two fundamental tools for the Federation and show an increase in followers of the regional/provincial Sections which stands at +243,4% compared to 2021 (Italian Hunting Federation Press Office).
