The vademecum
The regional Hunting Association of Tuscany wanted to remind with a vademecum some small changes that will concern the hunting in this area during the month of January which has just begun.

Huntable species: song thrush, teal, pochard, snipe, gadwall, pintail, wood pigeon, hooded crow, wigeon, coot, eurasian whip, moorhen, magpie, mallard, jay, garganey, northern shoveler, water rail, fox, cottontail, woodcock, fieldfare, redwing, tufted duck, lapwing, and wild boar. Deer and bovids are regulated by biological calendar.
Hunting hours: From January 1st to January 15th: from 7,00 am to 17,15 pm; from January 16th to January 31st: from 06,45 am to 17,30 pm.
In the SPAs, hunting is permitted only on Thursdays and Sundays during the month of January, with the exception of hunting ungulates.
From January 1 to 31, 2026, the use of hunting dogs, pointing dogs, and stalking in woodcock hunting areas is permitted only in designated wild boar hunting areas and, in other areas, only within wooded areas as classified by Regional Law No. 39/2000. Any severe cold spells or severe weather conditions that are critical for this species will result in the suspension of hunting for this species, subject to the Tuscany Region's prior notification on its institutional website and the websites of regional hunting authorities (ATCs), as well as via a message sent to users of the digital hunting license.

From January 1st to January 31st 2026, stalking, including hunting with pointing or flushing dogs, is permitted in wildlife and agritourism hunting farms.
From 1 to 31 January 2026, the use of hunting dogs, such as pointers and hunting dogs, is also permitted in the territories of the Lucca, Livorno, Massa and Pistoia districts and in the areas specifically identified for each of the additional districts.
From 1 to 31 January 2026, the use of retrievers for hunting from fixed or temporary hides is also permitted.
Without prejudice to the maximum seasonal limits, from 1 to 31 January 2026 the maximum authorised take for woodcock is in any case set at 6 animals in total per hunter.
The use of a hound is permitted for wild boar hunting by stalking and stalking, and for fox hunting conducted by hunters in teams, using a hound. Fox hunting team members must be included in a daily list available to the supervisory authorities. These lists, for activities carried out within their jurisdiction, are submitted to the ATCs according to the procedures they establish.
