Sorrenti's speech
Doctor Michele Sorrenti, Coordinator of the Federcaccia Studies and Research Office, presented in a video the data obtained from the song thrushes tagged with satellite transmitter in the Marche and Sardinia. Permanence on the wintering sites throughout January and the first few days of February has been confirmed.
The correct functioning of the devices
Here's what he said about it: “We had previously communicated how the activities in the Marche and Sardinia had gone. After the first month and a half of broadcasts, we obtained continuous data, significantly better than in previous years and precisely in these two regions. This is a total of 10 marked specimens out of 12, an important result in terms of the functioning of the devices."
Hunting calendars
"The most important information, however, is that all the thrushes are still in their wintering range. We waited until February and we can conclude that no individual has started the prenuptial migration, a detail in harmony with what we presented in the last ornithology conference in September. These data could now allow us to better argue the resolutions of the hunting calendar for the next season, therefore closing it on January 31st instead of the 10th as proposed by ISPRA".
