Wild boars and migratory
The denial of Council of State the request to allow selective hunting of wild boar, which does not pose any risk to migratory fauna and contributes to the prevention of swine fever, an undisputed emergency at national level, seems to confirm the lack of interest in such a delicate health issue and an absolutely insufficient level of detail by justice on this issue and on that of wildlife management more generally.
A surprising ban
The President of Federcaccia Lombardia Lorenzo Bertacchi talks about it: “It is confirmation that the judges know nothing about hunting. Selective wild boar hunting and collective hunting do not represent any risk for migratory fauna. Indeed, these withdrawals limit the wild boar and help maintain a favorable habitat for the species to rest".
Contrast of PSA
Bertacchi then added: “However, the Council of State wrote in its ruling that the protection of migratory avifauna on the crossings is prevalent, also compared to the management of wild boars for public safety issues, as well as for public health reasons. Among other things, at this moment containing wild boar is essential to combat African swine fever. Faced with all this, explaining hunting reasons in the courtroom is like explaining to flat-earthers that the Earth is round".
