The slip of the plan
For the moment it is a stalemate, at least as far as the Trentino side is concerned. The deer of this sector of the Stelvio National Park they will not be killed, given that the plan for the conservation and management of the species has not yet received the ok from the regional council. There is talk of a plan aimed at reducing the total number of animals in this area by about 30% over the next five years.
The words of Luca Pedrotti
The intention was to start everything up in the winter, which however ended without any felling. As Luca Pedrotti, scientific coordinator of the Stelvio Park, wanted to underline, there is no need to worry, the project remains valid and the postponement is only due to the preparation of some essential elements from this point of view.
The collection center
For example, a collection center is needed at all costs for the carcasses of animals taken, without forgetting the need for a game processing center. At this point the five-year plan (the time period to refer to is the one that goes from 2022 to 2026) should realistically start in the coming autumn, always taking a cue from what the consistency of the ungulates will be over the next few months.
