BOAR HUNT: The balance of the hunting season was good but the wild boar emergency cannot be said to be over.
The balance of the 2009 - 2010 hunting season for the province of Savona was presented in these days. The councilor for hunting Livio Bacco presented the balance sheet, underlining the importance of the management of wild boar through hunting in this area. Only with a selection hunt for wild boar that is targeted and that has very specific objectives, in fact, it is possible to keep this animal species under control. But there still seems to be a long way to go to solve this problem definitively.
The wild boar specimens present in the area are in fact still constantly increasing and although the slaughter was good, the desired results have not been achieved. The decision had been that of culling 8509 animals while only 7721 were culled. This is why the region has allowed wild boar to be hunted even during the summer.
Indeed, the region has also requested that several specimens of male roe deer be hunted during the summer periods, one from mid-June to 13 July and the other from 17 August to 28 September. The hunt for female roe deer has just ended. The hope is to be able to obtain a stronger regulation capable of resolving these problems definitively.
