Four hundred hunters they abstained from hunting this morning and found themselves in the village of Pratobello - symbolic place of the 1969 protest against military bases - to say no to the Region's African Swine Fever eradication plan, which implies "heavy obligations, burdens and sanctions against them", but also to ask for the abolition of the wild boar hunting Thursday. The representatives of the island shotguns, coming from different Sardinian provinces, joined the protest of Orgosolo self-managed hunters and have chosen to meet at the junction of Nuorese and Ogliastra, the areas most affected by swine fever.
“Il provision of the Region on the wild it is impracticable - Explains Antonio Manca Orgosolo's self-management - At our expense there are too many responsibilities and too many burdens: we must equip ourselves with a pit for the disposal of the bowels, a suitable cooler, we must carry out the samples and take them to the Zooprophylactic Institute. The vehicles and premises we use to find ourselves must be disinfected every time we use them. In short, a day of hunting is becoming a day of work. We already pay taxes to hunt, we don't have to lose any more money and our time ”.
Thus Marco Efisio Pisani: “Here are all the hunters from the red areas where swine fever and trichinellosis are most common - underlines the regional president of the Caccia Pesca Ambiente association -. The Region must understand that it has to do with those who have always guaranteed collaboration: if there are data on the Psa they are due to the hunters of this area who have been collaborating in the study for almost 40 years, but this provision is very restrictive and not very effective. If you want to eradicate the disease you have to start with the depopulation of the wild pig and you have to do it with dialogue. The announcement that the Region has made in search of a company that would proceed to eradicate the wild pig has gone deserted. We must listen to those who can give advice, not sanction them as if the PSA depended on them ".
This is the position of Nicola Sanna, self-managed by Fundals: “Today, with the abstention from hunting, we are asking two things. First: hunting on Thursdays is forbidden in areas where there is a shortage of wild boars such as ours. The opening on Thursdays remains only in the areas where the damage caused by this animal is greater, such as Sassarese, Oristano and Tempio. Second: immediate suspension of the provision on the PSA, which the Region has lowered from above, to return to dialogue with the various representatives of the territory ”.
