The numbers of the IZS
The Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta has provided the update relating to the date 28 July 2024 regarding the African swine fever. There are 1.004 positive wild boars in Liguria; 661 in Piedmont.
The areas in detail
The wild boars diagnosed with ASF are now 1.665, six more than in the previous update, all in Liguria where the total reaches 1.004 cases. However, no new cases have been reported among wild boars in Piedmont where the positive cases remain stable at 661.
The case of Trecate
The six Ligurian cases were all detected in the province of Genoa, five in Genoa (262 total cases), one in Sori (three). In Piedmont, in Trecate (NO), a case of ASF was reported and confirmed on a pig farm. With the positivity at the Trecate farm, there are now 157 municipalities in which at least one positive case of African Swine Fever has been observed.
