Quality meats
Great result achieved yesterday in the Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament on swine fever, where the MEP of the League, Angelo Ciocca, expressly asked that the efforts made in province of Pavia, also recognized by some representatives of the European Commission present in the room, are now respected. Applause therefore in the chamber for the work carried out, in synergy between the MEP and the territory, in tackling the problem inherent to swine fever. “The Province of Pavia has been recognized as a virtuous example in Europe and therefore, we expect respect in not blocking our farms. Respect from this EU in not allowing those who discriminate against quality and hyper-controlled pork, such as our own, to speculate on this situation, which is already difficult in itself due to the costs relating to the management of the animals and the increase in mortgages.
Ad hoc compensation
We ask for respect, stop penalizing meat coming from safe areas! Enough of the protocols imposed from above by this European commission that is blind and deaf to the real needs of the sector. Rather, worry about avoiding unfair competition from non-EU countries such as Canada which exports wheat that is harmful to our health and stop opposing meat that comes from an over-controlled and healthy system". Finally, Ciocca asked that we proceed with the provision of ad hoc compensation. “Let Europe be respectful and grateful for the quality garments, especially in terms of bio-safety, from our territory”.
The difficulties of farmers
Thus in a press note the MEP of the League, Angelo Ciocca, member of the Agriculture Commission in the European Parliament who yesterday, after welcoming a delegation of trade representatives from the pig sector, including Coldiretti and Confagricoltura, discussed the difficult situation in the Eurochamber which many farmers in the Pavia area, but not only, still find themselves having to face.
