The provincial section of Grosseto di Confagricoltura asked for an upgrade of the wild boar hunt to solve the problem of the swine fever. As underlined by the president Attilio Tocchi, the request will be sent to Ministry of the Environment in the belief that the containment of wild animals is an absolute priority. Confagricoltura Grosseto has demanded that the spread of the disease be prevented, given that it is linked to diffusion of wild species, ungulates in primis.
The culls we are talking about are seen as a precautionary measure that could avoid any type of risk for the farms of Tuscan farmers. The selective plan is therefore as urgent as ever: the swine fever virus has been identified in some parts of our country and in the areas in question hunting should be limited in order not to further increase the spread of wild boars.
On the contrary, in Grosseto it is necessary to act in the opposite way, also because the pathology is not present but the danger exists and how. Finally, Tocchi contacted the Tuscany Region to accept this request and activate a containment plan and other extraordinary measures aimed at reducing the animal population as soon as possible.
