A decree published yesterday, Wednesday 5 October 2016, announced the decision of the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court as regards the appeal of the LAC (League Abolition Hunt). The environmental association had asked for the closure of the lark hunt, but the administrative judges have ruled there is no reason to take such a measure. In particular, for the TAR it is not proven that the start of this hunting sampling (among other things, postponed to last October 1st) may affect the species in an imminent and irreparable way.
Furthermore, the Lombardy Region has already oriented the skylark calendar so that the times and methods corresponded to the ISPRA indications. The precautionary request of the LAC was therefore rejected, with the hearing scheduled for next 26 October. The judges therefore agreed with the Lombard hunters, unlike what happened in recent weeks in Abruzzo with the hunting calendar and the suspension of hunting until the end of September.
The lark has also recently called in the LIPU extension, convinced that this year two million specimens will be culled throughout Italy, to the point of asking for their cancellation from huntable species through a petition on its website.
