Regulatory news
The Italian Shooting Union (UITS) welcomes with great satisfaction the presentation of Legislative Decree No. 96 of June 30, 2025, containing urgent provisions on sport, which introduces important certainties for the entire sporting movement. Thanks also to the requests submitted by the UITS Special Commissioner, Attorney Walter De Giusti, the Government has introduced amendments to Article 1 of Law No. 110 of April 18, 1975, in Article 12 regarding the use of ammunition materials, aimed at regulating their disposal and their civilian or sporting use.
Possible civil repercussions and consequences
In particular, the intervention was necessary to ensure that amateur and competitive practitioners - of various sports disciplines practiced in shooting ranges and dynamic sports shooting fields affiliated with the Sports Promotion Bodies and/or the Associated Sports Discipline FITDS or in the National Shooting sections affiliated with the National Sports Federation UITS - use materials used for the regular exercise of sports activities, avoiding possible repercussions in terms of civil, administrative and criminal consequences connected to the necessary operations of possession, transport and use of ammunition or parts of it. Furthermore, the regulatory intervention meets the need to regulate the sporting use of such already used ammunition and to be able, therefore, to stock up on used cartridge cases at the shooting stands of the TSN Sections, with a virtuous and sustainable reuse.
Races in safety
At the same time, the UITS has worked to codify the procedures that allow for continued competition in safety through the drafting of sports regulations that provide, within the equipment control operations, an ordered set of checks to be carried out to control the use of reloaded ammunition in the sports disciplines practiced within the shooting ranges of the TSN Sections. “I am happy and proud. This is an important victory for the entire movement. We have worked hard and quietly to achieve this result that rewards us for all the efforts made. It is a sign of attention and consideration from the Government. The Italian Shooting Union enjoys great credibility that is based on several factors: transparency, fairness, effectiveness in management and ability to represent the interests of the entire movement in an authoritative manner, with passion, rigor and perseverance. Since my appointment as Extraordinary Commissioner, this has been one of my priorities. After months of work, the result achieved is there for all to see”, the satisfaction of the Extraordinary Commissioner of the UITS, Lawyer Walter De Giusti (source: UITS).
