The Provincial Police of Terni takes stock of the year just ended; poaching, hunting controls and much more.
As for the fines, the Provincial Police raised a total of 74 reports for a total of over 59.000 euros and proceeded to 35 criminal complaints. Specifically, as regards the environmental sector, 389 activities were carried out, divided into 128 inspections and 261 checks on waste management, atmospheric emissions, waste water discharges and public water abstractions.
The general number of crimes in this sector decreased compared to 2011 thanks to the attention and commitment of the provincial police. In fact, the figure stands at 21 fines (for 48.000 euros) and as many criminal charges.
Regarding the wildlife hunting activity, also carried out in a preventive key, 20 fines were raised with seizures of weapons, ammunition, animals and trapping cages 7 criminal complaints were made with extensive checks on the phenomenon of poaching, on ordinary hunting stalking and for the wood pigeon and on operations for the introduction of wild species.
As regards the problem of pests that cause damage to the agricultural sector, the Province, through the police officers of Palazzo Bazzani, carried out over 5.000 interventions for the containment of wild boars with the killing of 761 animals. Over 660 interventions were then carried out for the fox species, with the killing of 127 animals, and more than 1540 corvids were collected.
The activity of the Nos (Special Operating Unit) on the repression and prevention of offenses committed against the building heritage and on protected natural areas of historical-natural interest, on the road infrastructures of provincial competence and on the correct use of water resources as wells is very important. and draws. In this context, the memoranda of understanding signed between the Province, the prefecture and other institutions regarding the fight against illegal traffic in the road transport sector, the improvement of safety prevention and control activities in the construction sector and the prevention and repression of traffic violations.
A total of 159 services were carried out, during which 345 checks were carried out, which resulted in 19 penalties for an amount of over 4.000 euros. On the fishing side, the control and surveillance activity, carried out by the detachments of Terni and Orvieto, has unfolded on the main lakes of the area, in particular Piediluco and Corbara and on all rivers and waterways in general. During the year, the activities concerning the repopulation of the brown trout, the reproduction of the zander and support and study activities in conjunction with the regional authorities took place.
It has been an intense year that has seen, as always, the provincial police strongly committed on many fronts, with particular reference to the environment, waste and hunting and fishing activities. But a great and further effort was made on the occasion of the copious snowfalls of exceptional intensity in February, and then moved on to the summer months with the fires that occurred in various areas of the provincial territory, to close with the floods related to the flood of Orvieto last November.
The commissioner Filippo Beco commented that it is an “activity always conducted in close contact with the citizen and with the subjects operating in various capacities in the provincial territory and which aims to be close to the people. For this reason, controls, surveillance and, where necessary, persecution of offenses, have the sole purpose of protecting citizens and the territory, safety and correct relationship between man and the environment. The Provincial Police has grown in terms of commitment and quality of the service provided and this benefits the entire community ”.
