An engaging event
In the suggestive area of Ciorlano (CE), at the foot of the Matese mountain massif on the Caserta side, the 3st Memorial was held last March 1rd Friends of Scolopax “Tonino D'Angelo”, a woodcock dog competition that was able to excite fans and participants, in the memory of a historic director and passionate dog lover-hunter of the Federcaccia. The organization, in compliance with the memorial spirit of the test, wanted to reward not only the competitors who with their assistants managed to "get it right", but also all those subjects who during the test demonstrated their aptitude in the search for this elusive wild animal, without necessarily obtaining the formal qualification. All this made the Memorial an even more engaging and inclusive event, enhancing the relationship between handlers and dogs, enhancing the true passion for dog breeding and everything it represents.
Enchanting performances
The overall winner of the Memorial - who impressed those present with a first stop followed by a second point, which ended with the flight of a masterfully approached woodcock - was Gianmarco Teodonio's English setter Zuri, whose performance enchanted the judges and the spectators, demonstrating in addition to his exceptional training, his natural skills as a true champion for woodcock hunting. The other rankings, while not assigning a formal qualification, have highlighted the noteworthy performances of many dogs and handlers. Among the continentals, judged by Mr. Michele Di Iorio, Tommaso De Angelis' Breton Ciko stood out in first place, followed by Giovanni Manganelli's Breton Orso and Raffaele D'Ambrosio's Diego, still a Breton. In the first battery of the English, judged by Mr. Lello Buco, in addition to the winner Zuri, Ned by Nicola Tartaglione and Messi by Diamante Corvino were also awarded.
The best subjects
In battery B however, judged by Mr. Vincenzo Musine, recognitions of other deserving subjects, such as Brigata Silaris D'Ambrosio by Roberto D'Ambrosio, Zoe Silaris D'Ambrosio by Carmine Pedalino and Ben by Alberto Piazza. Particular mention also goes to the special prizes: the Best Young Subject was awarded to the setter Brina by Nello Parlato, while the title of Best Female Subject was won by Gianluca Merola's Biella del Binario. The Best Young Conductor was Roberto D'Ambrosio, demonstrating that passion and dedication can lead to extraordinary results, even at a young age. The 1st Friends of Scolopax Memorial “Tonino D'Angelo” therefore represented not only an opportunity for sporting competition, but also a moment of sharing and celebrating the passion for hunting and dog breeding.
Wildlife and hunting management
A special mention for the many young people present in the competition, a sign that the passion for hunting and dog breeding is still burning. Reason why the National Youth Coordination of Federcaccia - represented on the occasion by the Deputy National Coordinator Carmelo Violante - continues its action throughout the national territory in search of young people to introduce not only to hunting and dog breeding, but also to wildlife management and hunting, as well as the associative life of Federcaccia. An event which also saw the triumph of the unity of intent strongly desired by the organizers who in this regard thank Federcaccia Campania respectively in the person of the lawyer. Modestino Bianco, the Federcaccia Campania Youth Coordination in the person of Gregorio D'Ambrosio and Vittorio Ormella as provincial coordinator of Caserta, Federcaccia Caserta in the person of Dr. Valerio Marcello Toscano, the FIDASC Caserta provincial committee in the person of Gianluigi Rotondo, for having granted the patronage and having donated trophies for the top three in each heat (source: FIDC).
