The priority objectives
The Lombardy Region has published the 2025 Call for Proposals for the conservation of the roccoli (pursuant to Regional Law No. 26/1993, Article 7, Paragraph 8). Applications for funding may be submitted starting at 10:00 AM on October 1st, with a deadline of 12:00 PM on October 24th. Private owners of land with bird snares or their managers/operators may participate, provided the owners have written consent. The primary objective of the funding is to provide funding for the maintenance or restoration of the main and complementary structures of bird snares throughout the Lombardy Region.
Expenses deemed eligible
The budget for the 2025 financial year amounts to a total of €60, with a maximum of €10 granted for each individual project. The grant is non-repayable and can cover up to 100% of eligible expenses. Eligible expenses specifically concern the maintenance and restoration of the vegetation and poles. Eligible interventions include pruning the vegetation to maintain its typological consistency and the subsequent disposal of waste material.
Works in economy
The costs of replacing dead trees or shrubs with plants of the same species and the replacement of damaged internal poles are also covered. Expenses for materials, labor, technical costs, and VAT can also be accounted for. Please note that the estimated cost must be reported for each action and that no funding is provided for self-funded projects. Finally, funded interventions cannot under any circumstances affect any existing masonry structures within the bird snare. (Source: Lombardy Region)
