Luca D'Alfonso, governor of Abruzzo region, and Dino Pepe, regional councilor for hunting, spoke on the hunting calendar 2017-2018. According to both reports, the approval of the document is the consequence of a natural confrontation between opposing interests, that is, between the legitimate expectations of hunters and the claims of environmentalists. The Abruzzo Region recalled the involvement of many subjects, with the calendar proposal that provides for the official opening and the next one unified 1 ° October.
The local hunting associations intend to verify its legitimacy, but D'Alfonso and Pepe underlined the fact that the ISPRA opinion and the reproductive stages of the various species. Very interesting was the reference to the hunting opening in October instead of September, as happens in other Italian regions. For the Abruzzo Region, ISPRA has granted pre-opening to regions that have adequate knowledge of wildlife populations.
In Abruzzo, programming dates back to 25 years, therefore a long time ago: for this very reason, the regional hunting plan must be approved, an instrument that will make it possible to match the pace of the other regions. The reasons are, however, also other. In fact, it would be a matter of a very specific technical requirement, that is to arrive at a figure of "qualified" and "balanced" hunter. There are other obstacles, including the opinions of ISPRA and the Environmental Impact Assessment. Finally, for the governor and the councilor, the opening of the hunt in October is congruent with the need to safeguard the ecosystems affected by disasters.
