Meat to be protected
Il hunting world of Belluno aims to enhance the game meat supply chain. The topic was on the agenda of a meeting in recent days of the vice president of the Province (delegation to hunting and fishing) with the Belluno hunting reserves and districts.
Machining center
"The final goal is to create the conditions for marketing Belluno game meat, with a single brand that can enhance the entire territory," explains vice president Silvia Calligaro. "For this reason, a productive discussion has begun to understand the needs of the reserves and hunting districts. The idea could be to create centers for the collection of meat in each reserve, and a processing center for each valley, in a number not exceeding 6-7 at the provincial level. This is a practical way to enhance the great commitment of hunters and at the same time a product of great excellence such as the game meat of the ungulates of the Belluno mountains."
Wildlife censuses
In addition to the meat supply chain, the meeting also focused on the regulation on dog training and competitions, with the Province having implemented the new regional legislation and started the preliminary phase for the creation of areas dedicated to dog training in relation to the new wildlife plan. Finally, a look at the implementation of wildlife censuses, carried out by the Alpine hunting reserves in close collaboration with the Provincial Police Corps. "Censuses that will be improved with the application of new technologies - underlines the vice president Calligaro -. We have already introduced the use of camera traps, but now other innovations have also been codified, including new observation points and the use of the so-called "sample areas"" (source: Province of Belluno).
