Changes to be approved
The Regional Council, in compliance with Ordinance no. 543 of 7 September 2023, will approve the change to the date of opening of the hunting season to sedentary and migratory fauna and to allow just one additional day of your choice each week for hunting migratory fauna only, from a fixed or temporary stand, from 1 October to 30 November.
Order of the Regional Administrative Court
This provision is necessary to implement the order adopted by the Regional Administrative Court of Emilia-Romagna, seat of Bologna, which has suspended as a precaution the Hunting Calendar in the part in which it does not comply with the opinion issued by Ispra, limited to the following aspects:
postponement of the opening of the hunting season to October 1st;
reduction from two to just one additional day per week in hunting migratory birds from ambush in October and November;
early closure for several migratory species.
The adjustment is necessary to avoid incurring liability for tax damage, but the Region will appeal to the Council of State, as already communicated and, pending further details, it has been decided for the moment not to follow up on the request to bring forward the closure of hunting of migratory species.
What's new in the resolution
In any case, the new features of the resolution that will be approved today are briefly anticipated:
start of the hunting season for resident and migratory game in ATC and AFV on 1 October;
a single extra day of your choice each week for migratory hunting only, from a fixed or temporary stand, from 1 October to 30 November is granted;
pre-opening hunt for magpie, jay, hooded crow, wood pigeon and blackbird extended until Thursday 28 September, according to the procedures already established by resolution no. 812/2023 for the pre-opening to these species: two fixed days (Thursday and Sunday), only from stakeouts and until 13,00 pm. Please remember that for blackbirds, harvesting is allowed for a maximum of 3 days per hunter and with a maximum daily game bag of 5 animals;
dog training which continues until Thursday 28 September on the days and times in which hunting is not permitted, with the exclusion of selective hunting of ungulates, without prejudice to the ban on Tuesdays and Fridays; therefore, it can also be practiced on Thursdays and Sundays at the end of the hunting activity (after 13pm);
confirmation of any other provision envisaged in the Regional Council resolution no. 812 of 22 May 2023, with which the "Regional hunting calendar - Season 2023/2024" was approved, as it was not subject to suspension by the aforementioned TAR ordinance.
Furthermore, we inform you that the process has been started to request Ispra to be able to extend the hunting period for settled game by a further ten days in the month of December and, in the event of a favorable opinion, further measures will be adopted in this regard.
Ungulates and exceptions
Finally, it should be noted that the hunting of ungulates continues as per the approved hunting calendar and related harvesting plans; just as there are no changes with regard to the sampling in derogation of the "starling" and "pigeon" species, which continues as per Resolutions of the Regional Council nos. 1102/2023, 1103/2023 and 1118/2023, according to the times of the 2023-24 hunting calendar.
