The words of the Hunting Councilor
“We are very worried that there has not yet been a response from the TAR to the repeated requests of the Region to be able to discuss, on the merits and in a timely manner, the reasons why we believe that the hunting calendar approved in May 2023 by the Regional Council should not be suspended. For this reason we have instructed the lawyers to present a further request to have a hearing on the merits set by December 31st." Thus the regional councilor for Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing, Alessio Mammi, regarding the 2023-2024 hunting calendar, on which the TAR had placed some suspension measures.
Hearing on merits and timing
In September, the Region had appealed against the order of the Administrative Court to the Council of State, which on 20 October expressed its opinion accepting the appeal presented and requiring the Emilia-Romagna Regional Administrative Court to schedule a hearing on the merits by 31 December 2023. Since September, the Region has taken steps through its lawyers to present three reminder requests, one before and two after the order issued by the Council of State, but so far no response has been received from the TAR.
Mistakes not to be repeated
“Currently, the provisions of the Council of State are not being followed up – specifies councilor Mammi. We will continue to ask for this to happen by the end of December, as we would like by all means to avoid what already happened last year." The Region also confirms the commitment made in September to reduce the regional tax for hunting in the next hunting season. In fact, a percentage reduction calculated on the days of activity reduced due to the changes imposed by the TAR will be foreseen in the drafting of the budget. compared to previous years (source: Emilia Romagna Region).
