The Coverciano of Paintball
The weekend of March 7th and 8th marked a turning point for the blue paintballThe first official meeting of the 2026 season was held at the Asd Paintball Arezzo in Lucignano—now nicknamed the "Coverciano of paintball" for the quality of its facilities. It wasn't just a simple calendar event, but the first decisive step toward the World Championships in Dreux, France, next September. Under the aegis of FIDASC, the event brought together the best Italian athletes in the Arezzo area, led by Technical Director Luca Bacis, the entire national team staff, and regional representatives Ivan Golinelli (President of Emilia-Romagna) and Francesco Foianesi (Vice President of Tuscany).
A booming sector: results on the ground
The training camp confirmed that the Italian movement is not only growing in numbers, but is also experiencing unprecedented technical and mental evolution. The staff's structured work has provided feedback beyond expectations, as reported below. Under 16 and Under 19: the spearheads. While the Under 16 team continues to show bright promise with new additions already perfectly integrated, the Under 19 team has shown dizzying technical and mental growth, solidifying itself as a cornerstone of the Italian team. Women's National Team: the competitive level has risen significantly. The new call-ups have brought energy and quality, making the roster even deeper and more formidable on a global scale. Men's National Team and Veterans: focus on solidity. While the men's team has worked to rediscover an ideal working environment and the serenity needed to perform, the Veterans have seen an impressive leap in organizational and technical quality.
Innovation and Identity: the "tricolor barrel"
The real innovation for 2026 is the introduction of a key figure: the Head of Identity and Performance. His direct interaction with the players marked the beginning of a new psychological approach to sport. To recognize this vision, the "barrel tricolore" award was established, for the athlete who stands out not only for their talent, but also for their proactive attitude and ability to inspire the team. The coaches are already working to select the first winner of this prestigious recognition.
Synergy with the territory and the ASDs
The event's success was also made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Lucignano, which hosted an event attracting athletes and coaches from across Italy. But the work doesn't end there. With a view to continued growth, the coaching staff will soon send detailed reports to the individual local sports associations. The goal is clear: to create a direct link between the national team and the grassroots clubs to effectively address the identified gaps and arrive in Paris with a top-notch team in every aspect (source: FIDASC).
