Il Regional Administrative Court of Liguria has decided to confirm the stop of the hunting withdrawal of the transfer in the northern region. The judges accepted the appeal that had been presented by the LAC (League Abolition Hunt), ENPA extension (National Animal Protection Authority) e LAV (Anti-Vivisection League). In a nutshell, the TAR considered the resolution with which the Regional Council of Liguria last June 17 authorized the opening of hunting notwithstanding the bird to be illegitimate: the period initially chosen was the one between last September 25th and December 25th.
According to the ruling, the reasons given by the Region are in clear contradiction between the main purposes of protecting productive vegetation. The judges believe that the systems already used, namely the acoustic or visual (bloodless) bollards, are sufficient to protect late ripening olive groves with hanging fruit.
The purpose of the derogation was also not considered valid, as it would not contemplate the interest of hunters in the exercise of hunting. Breaking down the starlings can then have gods criminal implications in Liguria, even if there will be controversy. In fact, the Region recalled how it had obtained the favorable opinion of ISPRA hunting notwithstanding, one of the steps necessary to proceed with the collection.
