Sandro Bisonni, vice-president of the Territory and Environment Commission of the Marche region, presented a regional law proposal that aims to change the one in force since 1995 in the field of hunting. Specifically, the goal is to increase the minimum distance that hunters must respect when they are near the town, of workplaces and in all those places where other people may be involved.
According to Bisonni, such a change is necessary after they have happened unpleasant episodes with the consequent risk to the health of citizens. The vice president also believes that hunting heavily conditions other economic activities, in particular those related to tourism and agriculture. The minimum distances would pass like this from 100 to 300 meters with respect to farmyards, courtyards, houses, workplaces, farm buildings and railways.
Also, the smooth-bore shotgun may be banned less than 300 meters (the law requires 150 meters), without forgetting the respect of agricultural machinery in operation. The new data will probably also cover the mountain passes, therefore no more 1000 but 1500 meters minimum of distance. The proposal has been advanced and motivated and the responses of the hunting world are now awaited.
