La early closure of the hunting season al 20st January by the Government was commented negatively by the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters (CCT). The act of the Council of Ministers was defined as an unspeakable prevarication that requires an advance of eleven days as regards the closure of the hunt for song thrush, woodcock and cesena in seven Italian regions (including Tuscany). The executive's motivation, the violation of a Community directive concerning the conservation of wild birds, is the same highlighted last year according to the Confederation, as well as the possible worsening of Italy's position with respect to the negative closure of the case Eu-Pilot 6995 of 2014.
The motivation was judged "false and specious" for a very specific reason. Indeed, the procedure initiated by Brussels has to do with a request for clarification that Tuscany has provided in a timely manner and with a wealth of technical and scientific advice. For the CCT, the Government act was announced only with a press release and has not yet been made known: this behavior was considered by the Tuscan hunters a clumsy attempt to hinder the timely opposition in the seats that are deputies.
The same executive, accused by the Confederation of pretending to quarrel with the European Union on major issues, would be punishing its citizens by accepting the application of the usual policy of two weights and two measures. The Tuscan association wanted to remember how on the borders of our country and more precisely in France (perhaps the best example), the song thrush, the woodcock and the cesena can be hunted until the February 20, a date that has never been frowned upon by the EU itself.
Furthermore, the whole issue must take into account the use of the European Court of Justice and that to Lazio Regional Administrative Court, two judgments that are still pending. The CCT said it was certain that the regions concerned (in addition to Tuscany it is Calabria, Liguria, Marche, Puglia, Lombardy and Umbria) will be at the side of the entire hunting world to oppose this "umpteenth and unjustified act of prevarication ".
In addition, she announced that she will be determined to continue their battle in all locations. The body's reaction was in the air, now we expect similar expressions from the associations representing hunters and the hunting world in the other regions involved. It should be remembered that the early closure was approved by the Council of Ministers through the exercise of substitute powers on the hunting calendar.
