24 hours of “resistance”
There isn't even time to breathe a sigh of relief and Veneto hunters will once again have to deal with a controversial ruling from the Regional Administrative Court. On January 23, the council redetermined the hunting calendar 2023-2024, setting the closing date for the 2023-2024 hunting season at 31 January 2024 for aquatic avifauna limited to the Teal, Pintail and Mallard species.
The decision of the judges
However, the LAC (League for the Abolition of Hunting) got in the way, proposing its own appeal which was accepted just yesterday by the judges. Here is what we read in the ruling: "The TAR accepts the request for provisional precautionary measures and, as a result, suspends the execution of the contested resolution, in the part in which it redetermined the closing date of the 2023-2024 hunting season at 31 January 2024, limited to the following species: Teal, Pintail and Mallard, indicated in point 2, letter h) of Annex B to DGR no. 1009 of 11.08.202 to 31/01/2024, until the Chamber of Commerce hearing on 22 February 2024, at which the hearing of the precautionary application will be scheduled before the Board".
Communication to the parties
The sentence continues: "This decree will be executed by the Administration and is deposited with the Secretariat of the Court which will communicate it to the parties." We are now awaiting reactions from the hunting world, both Venetian and Italian.
