An important agreement was signed between the Territorial Office of Mantua, essentially the former province, the Mantova Mn6 Area and some Lombard ATCs including theSingle Atc of Brescia. Basically, if the members of these Lombard areas were to participate in the catches in the ATC Mn6 they will receive as compensation some items to be reintroduced on the Zrc of their own territory. The agreement, promoted for Brescia also thanks to the interest of our provincial president of Federcaccia, has the important objective of trying to reconstitute native populations of hares that can be the starting point for achieve autonomy in restocking. Below, in order not to create confusions, misunderstandings and personal interpretations, we report the text of the agreement with the reasons for which it was prosecuted.
Subject: Collection and destination of capture hares for the purpose of restocking in the ATC n. 2 CR. Laudense Sud and ATC Unico di Brescia. With reference to your request of 3/12/2021 to the records, regarding the possibility of allocate a contingent of hares from the ATC 6 MN trapping activity, with the aim of restocking the ZRC of the ATC n. 2 CR, Laudense Sud and ATC Unico di BS,
- having regard to art. 42 of Regional Law 26/1993 and the PFV in force Provincial Wildlife Plan of Mantua currently in force;
- considering that the initiative is the result of a collaboration agreement between ATC of Lombardy and is aimed at increase and improve the Hare populations present in areas (ZRC) intended for natural reproduction and irradiation to the rest of the territory;
- also considering that the species present in Lombardy, especially in the plains, has shown a gradual decline over the years and that the use of animals taken from the wild as an alternative to livestock or foreign origin can represent an important and lasting contribution the status of the residual populations present in the ATCs of destination
- verified that in the territory of the ATC 6 MN there is a significant increase in hares in the protected areas with considerable damage to agricultural production, in contrast to other Lombard territories and therefore the need for decrease the size of the populations present in order to reduce the impact of damage and the emergence of potential health risks in the populations themselves.
Having said all this, a favorable opinion is expressed for the proposed initiative and the withdrawal of a maximum quota of animals equal to about 10% of the animals captured to be used for the restocking of the ATCs in question.
Garments intended for restocking:
- must be transported to the places indicated in the shortest possible time, through personnel specifically responsible for the transport from the receiving ATC, with a special form endorsed by the security staff.
- must only be placed in areas ZRC in the place indicated and cannot be held or housed pending release.
At the end of the capture operations, the surveillance staff will draw up a special report indicating the total number of animals captured and those destined respectively for the restocking of the ATC 6 and other ATCs. The ATC 6 must send the summary statement of the animals destined for the ATCs to the address, by February 15, 2022. Concerning the participation in the catching of hares in the ATC MN6, the hunters concerned must, through their delegates and representatives, relate with the ATC Unico di Brescia or by writing an email to [email protected]. Times are very tight but still feasible with good will. In theory every 8 hunters of Brescia participating in the catch should be delivered a pair of hares.
Correctly, the hares will be released within the Restocking and Capture Zones of the homogeneous reference area of the participants. Obviously the more representatives of a homogeneous area, the more their Zrc will be strengthened. It will also be the way to verify live the results of an optimal management of the territory such as that put in place in Mantua, the result of constant commitment and experience (Source: CACCIAPENSIERI - Federcaccia Brescia).
