Il Biodiversity Manifesto is an extensive database of hunting-related conservation projects that support the action of FACE, the Federation of European Hunting Associations of which Federcaccia is also a part, in Brussels. Thanks to this work of collecting and disseminating initiatives in the various states, the hunting world has the opportunity to demonstrate in a concrete and irrefutable way that hunters make a crucial contribution to the restoration of habitats, protected areas, species monitoring and much more for the benefit of the whole community. This time we talk about the Po Delta, an area usually cited by animal rights activists and anti-hunting as seriously damaged and constantly endangered by hunting.
What is shown instead highlights that this area in the Po Delta is currently hosting hundreds of ducks in their migratory journey, offering water, food and tranquility, thanks to the conservation and environmental restoration work carried out by the hunters of the area. For more than 20 years, investments at no cost for the community, amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros, carry on the conservation of freshwater areas and host many species, even those judged to be in decline, such as the Pochard, which recently arrived in this area with about 600 individuals, some of which will remain during the winter and several couples will spend the breeding season there.
The contribution of hunters to maintaining biodiversity develops throughout the year and the results of the monitoring give reason to the world of hunters, the number of species and individuals is increasing or stable in the Po Delta and in the Venice lagoon, where hunters are the protagonists of the conservation of natural habitats. A big difference between propaganda and reality (Source: Hunting Federation).
