As stated in the same note from the senators "on the national territory the wild boar emergency continues, a species more than doubled in 10 years and which constitutes a damage to agriculture and a risk to people, because the incursions of animals on the roads cause an increasing number of accidents, often even fatal. In the first 10 months of 2018 alone, 118 serious events were recorded, causing 10 deaths and 155 injuries.
The escalation of crop damage, assaults and accidents is the result of uncontrolled proliferation of wild boars in Italy, with a diffusion that now extends from the countryside to the cities. Despite the promises, the government has so far done nothing. For this we ask for immediate action with the establishment of a table that plans the containment of the species, if necessary also through a specific legislative measure. A provision to write which all interested parties will be involved ".
