THEManagement Body of Ticino and Lake Maggiore has decided to disclose some clarifications on the protected areas and thehunting activity. According to this body, in fact, hunting in parks and regional nature reserves is prohibited by the lagge, without forgetting that the parks themselves operate personally with adequate containment plans, approved by the Region. Furthermore, the entity underlined the necessary acquisition of the favorable opinion by theHigher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA).
The organization recalled the 16 years of activity regarding the containment of wild boars present in this area, using all possible tools, specifically the cages, roof terraces and turns. In Park of the Lagoniin particular, only trap cages managed exclusively by the park rangers are used. The surface is of 460 hectares and to date 70 specimens have been shot down in the current year.
Starting from 1 January 2018, therefore in a few days, the next Wildlife Hunting Plan will come into force and armed interventions will be authorized (hunting in turn and use of hunting dogs), even if only in particular emergency situations. The Authority concluded its clarifications with the explanation of the catches and killing, promoted by those who manage the protected area. They will intervene wildlife technicians and other security personnel, alternatively the involvement of trained and authorized volunteers and provincial guards is not excluded.
