Hygiene and healthcare
Wild boar hunting has its own hygiene and health rules and they must be respected. The dialogue started in recent days in Terlizzi between the Northern Area Veterinary Service of ASL Bari and Territorial Hunting Areas is starting to produce concrete results.
A suitable and safe environment
Yesterday, in fact, the veterinary inspectors led by Dr. Teresa Di Gioia conducted an intense prevention and control activity by subjecting the animals killed and taken by hunters to a suitable and safe environment to a health examination. The message, well received by wild boar hunters, is clear: before the animal's meat can be marketed or eaten, it must be subjected to rigorous controls.
Prevention and surveillance
In fact, it can be the bearer of dangerous health risks of an infectious, parasitic or physical nature, identifiable only with a careful and in-depth health examination by veterinary inspectors and with the taking of samples: all prevention and surveillance measures also concerning the spread of African swine fever and involving hunters and veterinarians, but also farmers and travellers.
