After the meeting of Milano and reports from hunting associations, MEPs Renata Briano, Lara Comi, Salvatore Cicu, Paolo De Castro, Remo Sernagiotto e Damiano Zoffoli have presented a parliamentary question on the obligation to signature of the head of migratory game after killing. Now you also know the answer of the European Commission.
The answer was Carmen Vella, Commissioner for the Environment, according to which Brussels does not have legal requirements such as those described in the question. In national legislation they are instead present: for example, in our country it exists a new article 12-bis of the National Hunting Law. The new provisions require hunters to register the number of specimens of all species of birds, sedentary and migratory immediately after killing.
The innovations have served to improve the control of the capacity limits of the game bag and the conditions for the collection of complete and reliable data for planning purposes. For the EU Commission the same provisions are in line with the sustainable hunting and the wise use of the Birds Directive. Finally, Brussels has provided for the collection of information on the game bags as regards the 2013-2018 period and the provisions just mentioned will be useful from an informative point of view.
