In the course of yesterday, Tuesday 14 March 2017, there was the important vote in plenary by the European Parliament on revision of the Weapons Directive. The latest version of the text was approved, while all amendments proposed were rejected. This provisional agreement was established during the Trilogue meetings and sets the conditions to be respected for lawful purchase and possession of firearms, without forgetting their transfer to another country of the European Union.
FACE (Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation) recalled the work done and the collaboration with many deputies, a commitment aimed at modifying the directive and remove unjustified restrictions: in this way the changes were significant and the text became more balanced. Amendments were avoided for avoid other limitations, among other things, as already explained, all those presented were rejected.
Ludwig Willnegger, general secretary of FACE, explained how yesterday's vote is a good result for European hunters, although there are still unclear aspects, especially as regards the licensing and custody of weapons. The objective of the community association will be to guarantee the hunting, possession and use of firearms and ammunition to the hunting world without bureaucracy.
