This time I stick my finger in the eye of all those mayors who in the past, ensnared by the promises of constituting parks, said yes.
di Bruno Modugno
Thirst for armchairs, the hope - even in good faith - of obtaining advantages, such as subsidies for visitor centers, roads, structures, an increase in nature tourism or at least the attention of newspapers and those who count in the great binge of nature of which they all fill their mouths without ever having seen the house pig be born or die. Then they found the enemy in bed. The "cardinal's guards" had access everywhere, they organized the opening of a small window, the construction of a pigsty, the unexpected change of a crop.
We are not talking about opening a ski slope, which (yes!) Would have brought tourism, or about building something that would not please the new king who had settled in the area. Who believed himself to be omnipotent, drew up the list of good and bad, used public money to hire anyone he wanted, outside the rules, only occasionally attracting the attention of distracted prosecutors. In reality I should have 4166 fingers to stick at least in one eye of the many mayors who have asked (or have left) that their municipalities - more than half of the municipalities of Italy - be included in parks or protected areas.
I experienced the Bracciano tragedy, inserted in the Bracciano-Martignano Park which destroyed centuries-old properties, wildlife wealth and biodiversity, increasing poaching, while the flaming off-road vehicles of the park service strut pompously in front of the cafes of the towns overlooking the lake. We thought it was a leftist fashion and when Storace's candidacy appeared on the horizon, everyone offered their hand to him. The Region turned black, from red it was, but the park is still there. Where is the mayor back then, because I want to stick a finger in his eye? Italy, which at the end of the 70s, at the time of the great referendums against hunting, was the black jersey of Europe, today is in the lead for protected area: about 22% of the national territory, including national and regional parks , reserves, oasis, SIP and ZPC.
In addition there are cities, roads, airports, military zones, industrial zones, water surfaces. What is left for us to hunt? Do they want to abolish hunting? Didn't they make it with 24 national or regional referendums? Now they try by complicating the purchase and possession of weapons, decreasing species and periods, taking away more territory from hunters. This is why there are still those who talk about parks, even if today the environmental and fauna situation is excellent: we have the highest rate of biodiversity in Europe with 5 600 plant species and 57 animal species, practically 30 percent of what exists in Europe, but in an area equal to the thirtieth part of our continent.
Thanks to the management hunt we have a population of ungulates to rival the richest regions of Europe, the Balkans, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria and Germany. We have reviewed the geese. Teals and garganeys are back in abundance. And are we still talking about creating new parks? There is a lack of money to manage and operate the large national parks, and I mention the Gran Paradiso Park, the Abruzzo Park, the Pollino park, and we still want to create at the expense of the citizens other useless, deleterious, expensive, clientelists, new areas of power? The law states that today a park can be built only with the consent of the mayors. Well, the mayors of the Monti Ernici area do not want the finger in the eye and have said no. And is it still talked about? Is there still a struggle? Still arguing? But isn't the mayor sovereign?
Also on this topic the PD has split. There is a minority linked to the interests of animal rights and environmentalists and the other that looks to the interests of the populations. Did I say something I shouldn't have? Let them come out, then, and make us understand.
In the face of those who feel bad!
