Bevagna (PG): The providential intervention of the "Fire Hunters" on voluntary service in the Martani and Subasio Mountains allows a quick extinguishing of a fire.
A few days ago, Mr. Stefano Bartoli, a hunter on fire-fighting service in the “San Pietro” restocking and capture area, saw smoke coming from the Madonna della Valle area. He immediately alerted the other volunteers and the mayor of Bevagna, Enrico Bastioli, who immediately issued the alarm to the teams of the mountain community of Monti Martani and Subasio.
The municipal police and the carabinieri promptly intervened on the spot and verified that, fortunately, it was a small fire due to the burning of brushwood in the vicinity of a farmhouse. However, the firefighters of Assisi also intervened on the spot for the complete reclamation of the area. Once again the vigilance of Diana's followers was very important.
To be precise, the constant surveillance of the hilly area by local hunters began from the first days of July. Main purpose of the initiative: to prevent fires. In fact, the volunteers organized themselves to check the Bevagna woods to alert the firefighters, the state forestry corps, civil protection and the mountain community in real time in case of danger.
The hunting associations that manage the "S.Pietro" ZRC in a collegial way have decided, as already happened in 2009, to set up a cohesive group of sentinels whose task is to closely observe the trees that make up the wonderful mosaic of the forests. that adorn the local mountains. The "fire hunters" of Bevagna work in close collaboration with the Mountain Community of the Martani and Subasio Mountains.
For the 2010 summer season about 50 men are involved who will control the territory until the first days of next September. These attentive guardians of nature, with binoculars and good will, will therefore be engaged in a necessary environmental protection service shared by the entire population.
