For three centuries now the structure of theArosio Ornithological Observatory (province of Como) of the FEIN (European Foundation Il Nibbio) is present on the territory. The association ANUUMigrators he recalled his ringing activity which has lasted since 1977 and is carried out in a continuous and standardized manner: the projects are aimed at detecting species in pre-nuptial migration, nesting, post-nuptial migration and wintering.
The ringed or simply observed species are 127, belonging to 38 different families. Among other things, there are some birds that in the period between 1977 and 2016 were ringed numerous times. The primacy was "conquered" by song thrush (27332 specimens), followed by the finch (26220 subjects) and by black nurse (22160). Off the podium, but still in an appreciable “Top-5”, they finished the robin (21224 subjects) and the blackcap (20182).
The numbers just listed were considered very interesting, moreover we must add them to those of the ringing of the end of last year, to be precise. 5316 birds. This means that the Como station is constantly engaged in researching and collecting data for the acquisition of new information on the migratory phenomenon winged species.
