The green Umbrian hills as a backdrop
It took place in Todi in the lands of the ZRC San Damiano the first special pointer of the 2024 Central Italy Trophy. Wonderful and typical terrains of the green Umbrian hills where real game lives, very difficult to treat also due to the tall vegetation and abundant heavy dew that has settled on the meadows during the night. A large group of enthusiasts judged by Messrs. Gaggi and Bovicelli arranged to meet in the morning and then went to the grounds, where there was no shortage of opportunities to meet but the crafty pheasants got the better of the dogs.
Regional forms of hunting
There was an important presence of dog hunters, who came to see the event, who use the pointer in the typical regional forms of hunting (cotornaise, quail, pheasant and woodcock) to renew a tradition carried on by the breeders who have marked the history of the pointer in Umbria and in Italy such as: Del Cervone, Eugubium and Fulginium. Present as well as the President of the local section of the Federcaccia, Mr. Luciano Simoncini, also the National President Massimo Buconi, who further established the link between hunting and dog breeding. Special award to the Best Female in memory of Antonio Bovelli, great and appreciated Tuderte Pointerman, who introduced many young Tuderte hunters to pointer hunting.
A tasty breakfast
The memorial was awarded by his wife Marilena Budassi who gave the winner Giancarlo Storoni with his pointer Desdemona a beautiful painting, the work of the member Francesco Santarelli. The entire event was filmed by a drone that followed all the shifts, so as to be able to immortalize this morning. Finally, the community of the town of San Damiano offered all participants a breakfast with local products, all in an atmosphere of great cordiality and friendship. Thanks go to the Judges for their efforts in examining the subjects presented, to the companions, to the Perugian Canine Group, to all the participants who wanted to get involved in this new and difficult gym, to the landowners for their availability, to the sponsor of Renzo Cerquetelli's New Segugio Europa event, to all the officials of the institutions who attended and to all the enthusiasts who hosted the test, who are the true driving force of Umbrian hunting and dog breeding (source: Pointer Club of Italy).
