Il Gentiloni government he will remain in office for nine days, but one of the latest measures he has become the protagonist of is displeasing the Ligurian hunters. The Council of Ministers in fact challenged the Constitutional Court the law of the Liguria Region that disciplines hunting. What exactly happened? Animalists and environmentalists have not accepted the regional legislation, asking for decisive interventions by the institutions due to the presence of alleged elements of unconstitutionality.
In the Ligurian case, the marketing in festivals and fairs of animals killed during hunting was examined, an activity that would harm the wildlife protection. Furthermore, the unconstitutional profile would also concern the involvement of volunteers with the hunting license in the context of control of the wild. The Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Stefano Mai, spoke of a "political decision" and a "slap in the face for farmers".
Never stressed that the use of volunteers is a typical practice of other 15 Italian regions, consequently the Italian government is proving not attentive to the requests of Ligurian farmers. Among other things, last June the State-Regions Conference had given the green light to the agenda on the request for modification of article 19 of the National Hunting Law, the one dedicated to the control of wildlife.
