Researchers from all over the world
The fourth international symposium on flamingos of the Flamingo Specialist Group of the IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature. It is expected that around 150 researchers from all continents will be present at the event.
Sustainable activities
Among the main topics addressed during the study days there will be actions for the conservation of the species, strategies to be implemented to avoid disturbance to the breeding colonies, the identification of protection zones where the presence of breeding colonies is found, the planning and management of sustainable activities, as well as research topics on the topic of climate change. The symposium will also be an opportunity to share information, scientific knowledge and skills between different countries. A particular focus will be on the Mediterranean, where these birds have coexisted for millennia with the pressures induced by Man.
Environmental management
Federcaccia nazionale, sponsor of the conference, will participate with its own Study and Research Office presenting its own scientific contribution regarding the impacts of the flamingo on valley ecosystems and the problems connected to the environmental management of these areas, also in relation to competition with other species.
