La Unitary control room of the hunting world expresses its support for the initiative of the Italian Wood Pigeon Club concerning scientific research on isotopes analyzed in the feathers of wood pigeons in autumn migration: "The opportunity represented by the availability of Prof. Keith Hobson to deal with this research is certainly a very important thing for the world of hunting - the letter reads -, because the very high qualification at world level of the Canadian luminary, in addition to to attribute to the survey itself a chrism of great validity from a scientific point of view, it is also a guarantee of the importance of the study not only from a purely scientific point of view, but also for its practical implications for management purposes.
The cost estimated by Prof. Hobson to carry out the research is 15mila euros. If we then consider that the initiative in question is part of the vacuum of official ornithology and of the knowledge of the institutions in charge of this field, this can only have a highly positive impact on the image and consideration of hunters and their commitment to scientific research. With a minimum contribution of at least 200 euros, each area will be able to participate in the research and join the group of funding bodies that will come properly advertised".
