Live ambushes and calls
"Promptly close the dispute with the European Commission also to avoid probable sanctions; effective measures against the criminal phenomenon of poaching, providing that it is sanctioned in the Penal Code as a crime; stop the practice of hunting from a blind with the use of live decoys; exclude from the list of huntable species those that are in a particularly serious state of conservation; donate the proceeds of national taxes on hunting to support land control activities. These are the five points on which we ask the deputies to engage the government, to stop a drift driven by hunting and gunsmith extremism". This was stated by Luana Zanella, leader of Avs in the Chamber, presenting the motion of grandparents, first signatories Borrelli-Zanella-Bonelli.
Infringement procedure
"Let's start from the need to settle the dispute with Europe - he explained - because Italy is currently in the midst of an infringement procedure due to the repeated series of violations of Directive 147/2009 EC on the conservation of wild birds, one of the pillars of Community environmental law. Our law 157 of 1992 largely implemented the Directive, after a long and difficult debate between political forces and the various stakeholders; it represented a point of balance for 30 years.
“No regard for avifauna”
It is a law of mediation and protection of wild fauna that allows the exercise of hunting activities exclusively under certain conditions, those that have the least impact on the hunted species. And there is still much to do as we indicate in the motion, starting with the defeat of poaching and the disappearance of the hateful systems that use live animals for decoys. We consider it serious, dangerous and senseless that while Italy is under infringement of a bill by Minister Lollobrigida, not yet brought to light but of which there are bad anticipations, it sets itself the objective of liberalizing hunting without any regard for avifauna: biodiversity is everyone's heritage, how can Lollogrigida and his advisers-voters think they can do what they want?”, concluded Zanella.
