The changes to be made
La Provincial Council of Trento will adopt some legislative changes aimed at allowing greater speed and effectiveness in the management of problematic or dangerous specimens of large carnivores, therefore bears or wolves. The president of the Autonomous Province of Trento – this is what the first outlined modification foresees – will be able to proceed with the signing of an intervention provision, both for the collection of the specimen or the capture, without requesting a prior opinion from Ispra. The president himself will be able to proceed, again without the prior authorization process, also with measures aimed at dissuasion, including those against particularly confident animals.
Capture and pick up
Finally, with reference to any cases for which the Pacobace (Interregional action plan for the conservation of brown bears in the central-eastern Alps) authorizes both capture and removal according to the behavior of the specimen, the formula which will be the latter will always be adopted, i.e. killing.
Large carnivores
This was specified by the provincial councilor Giulia Zanotelli, who on the occasion of the press conference at the end of today's session of the Giunta specified the changes that will be made through the bill linked to the adjustment manoeuvre, which in turn will affect the law 9 of 2018 on large carnivores. This is the text that defines the prevention and intervention measures, also with reference to the responsibilities of the president of the Autonomous Province, precisely for the management of bears and wolves in Trentino (source: Province of Trento).
