The Province of Benevento approves the regulation for fox hunting

The disciplinary will remain in force until next January 31: hunters will have to organize themselves into teams and respect a series of prohibitions.

The Province of Benevento has approved the regulation for the fox hunting as regards the 2015-2016 hunting year. The go-ahead was communicated by the president Claudio Ricci, who gave the ok to the resolution on the proposal of the sector manager. This is a specification that was drawn up on the basis of the Regional Law on the subject and which had already been submitted to the attention of the Provincial Wildlife Hunting Technical Committee a few days ago with a favorable opinion. In that case, the body, chaired by the Secretary General of the Province, had asked President Ricci to promptly adopt the regulation and to transmit it to all the municipalities of Benevento.

Fox hunting will be allowed only in the presence of the following dog and in collaboration with teams of hunters who are resident in the Territorial Hunting Area of Benevento. Furthermore, the hunts must necessarily be authorized and cannot disregard certain bands of respect: specifically, it is 500 meters away from the regional parks and 150 meters from the areas where hunting is prohibited. Hunters will also be obliged to comply with other important requirements.

One of the main ones is undoubtedly the immediate reporting of evident signs of previous diseases among the foxes that have been killed, to be carried out by contacting the veterinary services of the ASL or those of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute. What else does the specification provide? The fox hunt will last until January 31st, while the team's application for admission will have to meet the January 15th deadline.

A duly authorized team will be one with at least five hunters and each individual hunter may be part of only one team during the same hunting season. The foreman will have the task of noting the names of the other hunters, the start and end time of the activity, the number of animals killed and the location of the killing. The regulation then provided for absolute prohibitions.

In particular, single bullet ammunition cannot be held for the entire day in which one is registered in the team fox hunting register. On the same day it will not be possible to kill other types of wildlife. In addition, it will be forbidden to use shotguns that contain more than the two shots that are permitted by law, in addition to the one in the barrel. Finally, there is no shortage of safety regulations: every hunter must wear a yellow or orange phosphorescent vest during the fox hunts, so as to be always visible.
