La Province of Modena has decided to sue a group of animal rights activists who recently criticized (heavily) the coypu control plan implemented by provincial police. The groups targeted in this case are two and the deed was signed by the number one of the local authority, Gian Domenico Tomei.
The Emilia Romagna regional council implemented the plan for the control of the species at the beginning of 2018 and the consequent activation of the limitation plans to the species, aimed at better management of the livestock, the protection of the soil and zoo-agro-forestry and fish productions, as well as for health reasons and for organic selection. The agents insulted by the animal rights activists intervened in a completely legitimate way in the municipal area of Castelfranco Emilia: on Facebook the groups hosted posts with very heavy insinuations and with defamatory and slanderous content.
Tomei's note ends like this: “It is therefore necessary give a mandate to the lawyers belonging to the single advocacy office to proceed to protect the work of the Agents involved and the image of the Police Corps (also through a criminal complaint) in relation to the aforementioned facts, against some users who have made the offensive posts in said open groups".
