La Province of Treviso has decided to authorize the selection hunt of 235 roe deer, both female and small, to be distributed in 41 alpine reserves of this part of Veneto. As reported by La Tribuna di Treviso, in the Treviso area there are a total of 4500 ungulates and the only slight increase was that of Montello. Furthermore, soon there should also be a selection hunt for chamois, in particular the 400 of Grappa, without forgetting the deer.
The local authority stressed that it is absolutely impossible to speak of a "slaughter", given that the numbers speak for themselves and are much lower than other reserves. The quotas allocated to hunters represent a tenth of the total population. As for the male roe deer, on the contrary, another period will be chosen. The Province has clarified the objectives of this operation, primarily the sanitation of the population. The recruiters will have to respect very precise and strict rules.
In particular, it will be necessary to choose three days a week, except for Tuesdays and Fridays. You will need the documents, the card and the date stamp that must be applied to the Achilles' tent of the roe deer. The reserve delegate will have the task of verifying each animal killed. The presence of the local agent will also be fundamental. Half of the animals will be assigned only to expert breeders, then from next October 16th we will proceed with deer hunting.
