La Environment Commission of the Piedmont Regional Council examined the amendments to the legislative proposal for the containment of wild boars. In particular, the use of motorized vehicles on municipal and local roads was authorized, a possibility granted to subjects who deal with the wildlife control and also to hunters of ungulates.
Paolo Ruzzola, regional councilor of Forza Italia, first signatory of the proposal, explained the need to reach a containment of ungulates, in particular of wild boars, which are causing serious problems throughout the Piedmont area.
The amendments were presented by 5 Stelle, PD and Luv e amount to 23: eight were discussed and rejected with the majority vote against. The content of the proposed changes began with the protection of specimens of the typical alpine fauna to the inclusion in the legislation of Hunting qualification regime; from the ban on breeding specimens for ornamental and amateur purposes to regulating the hunting qualification exam and the option on chosen form of hunting.
