THELombard Hunters Association has published a new note to talk about what happened in these days preceding the referendum on regional autonomies. In fact, an attempt was made to give the green light to a resolution for the reopening of some roccoli in the province of Brescia and Bergamo, in order to make possible weeks and weeks of catches. The issue was wrecked even before "setting sail", given that the Lombardy Region Advocacy gave its negative opinion.
ACL stressed that political will counts practically zero in the face of bureaucracy. It seemed that the commissioner was ready to sign this resolution, in reality the Lombard hunters will have to deal with the sixth year without hunting in derogation, without calls, with a restrictive hunting calendar and a drastic decline in hunters. According to the association, this would be the real goal of the political class, now increasingly focused on animal welfare issues. Political support comes only in words, but traditions (roccoli in the first place) are disappearing.
With the regional autonomy of the referendum, the hunt could get positive results, but the Yes to the electoral round is still uncertain as to consequences. ACL did not give any indication of vote, but recalled that hunting is a legitimate passion and a historical tradition. The fear is that in the coming months the animal rights drift will impinge on others constraints and stakes. The conclusion of the press release is bitter to say the least: "We understand one thing, which is that hunting policy is a big bluff and that hunters continue to be yanked by the jacket.".
