After the controversy arising from the reprimand coming fromUtr Bergamo al Alpine hunting area of the Bergamasque Pre-Alps, The Lombardy Region intervened on the wild boar issue directly with the Councilor for Agriculture, Food and Green Systems Fabio Rolfi. Once again the role of the hunter in fighting this proliferation of recent years has been highlighted, giving important indications for this activity in the new year. “I express gratitude to the hunters for their commitment, they represent the main containment tool for wild boar and invasive species, as the data show -explains the Councilor-.
They often put themselves at the service of the public administration and citizenship to stem a problem that otherwise, with the scarce resources available to the institutions, would be unmanageable ”. We remind you that the Management Committee of the Bergamo Prealps District has arrived a reprimand signed by the Utr Bergamo for the overcoming of the wild boar sampling plan authorized in collective hunting in hunted: in the only alpine hunting area in which the hunted form is open in the province of Bergamo, the sampling plan of 95 boars has been exceeded, for a total of 895 animals killed out of the 800 authorized.
The reactions of Federcaccia and Enalcaccia, who had asked to hunt the wild boar also in January after a November that saw the 12 teams of the CA not very busy due to bad weather, was not accepted, precisely because at the end of 2019 the plan he managed to reach, but they would never have expected a note of reprimand given the delicate situation throughout the province. Among the requests of the hunting world there is also that of being able to use the controllers alongside the provincial police, which no longer happens for bureaucratic reasons since 2018. The response of the policy is clear and clear and bears the signature of Rolfi himself. “The collaboration of all institutional levels is necessary to face the wild boar management: for this reason I am once again asking the provinces to implement uniform control plans throughout the region, using suitably trained selecontrollers to be more effective ”announces the commissioner.
“Containment cannot burden hunters alone. Wild boars often settle in urban areas or protected areas where hunters cannot intervene, but the Public Administration must intervene. The control is patchy only where there is an adequate sensitivity of the commanders of the provincial police. The rule is clear, the regional law is in force and it is time for everyone apply it without distinction". The Lombardy Region has thus also prepared the annual budget, presenting updated data on wild boar slaughter in the region: in 2019 and up to 10 January 2020, 7.823 specimens were slaughtered. “This year the culls of wild boars are on the rise thanks to the selection hunt activated by Lombardy region -explains Rolfi-.
2020 will be the year in which this practice will be fully operational with the multi-year plans together with collective hunting; therefore we will see a further increase in withdrawals, for effective action it is essential to carry out timely censuses and to correctly implement the collection plans ".
