An important anniversary
Sunday 5 March was a day of great celebration for hunters Sedrina who gathered to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Federcaccia section, now chaired by Gianfranco Fustinoni. The event saw the participation of several leading authorities in the hunting world. Among these, the MEP Pietro Fiocchi, who reaffirmed his commitment in Europe in defense of traditional hunting. Also present at the party of the Federcaccia section of Sedrina were Barbara Mazzali, a few days ago councilor for tourism of the Lombardy Region, Pietro Macconi, new regional councilor and the Provincial President of Federcaccia Michele Bornaghi who praised the section, one of the most numerous and active in the Bergamo. The number one of Fidc Bergamo spoke of the challenges that await the hunting world, those concerning the hunting calendar, the general wildlife plan, the containment of pests, the problem of rings and roccoli: in view of the settlement of the next regional council , he hoped for a serene dialogue between the hunting associations and the regional institutions.
A reference point
“Thanks to Fustinoni for all he does at the provincial and regional level - said Bornaghi - for his devotion to hunting, to the community of hunters of Sedrina, a point of reference for the area for years and represents for us hunting managers a shining example of perseverance and dedication to our business”. Even the Mayor of Sedrina, Stefano Micheli, took part in the event, giving the association recognition for its commitment to safeguarding the environment. As Fustinoni recalls “it is often said that we hunters are the sentinels of the environment. As far as our section is concerned, we have organized several ecological days, also in collaboration with other associations in the Sedrina area". The day began with the Holy Mass celebrated by Don Pierangelo Redondi, in memory of the hunters who have recently disappeared. This was followed by the usual annual meeting, which returned to attendance after three years of restrictions due to the pandemic. At 12 the party continued with the social lunch in the Oratory with the musical accompaniment of the Bandì di Zogno. The afternoon saw the awarding of the sponsors of the association and of the hunters who have reached the important milestone of 50 years of licence. Among these was Fustinoni himself, for 40 years President of the Sedrinese hunters, who was also thanked by the authorities present for the commitment and dedication with which he has led the section for four decades.
A strong passion
“I have always tried to put myself at the service of others, sometimes making mistakes, but always guided by a strong passion for the hunting world, a feeling that I have also managed to convey to my nephew who, at just 12 years old, can already imagine the day he will hunting licence. The Sedrina section was established on 29 March 1953. In recent years, numerous initiatives have been carried out, starting with the social competitions of clay pigeon shooting and rifle shooting, as well as dog lovers on gray partridges and quails. The collaboration with the Francesco Cleri Study Center was important for the creation of the book "L'uomo e la Caccia" by Prof. Diego Gimondi, a text that explores the history and traditions of the local hunting culture, leaving a precious testimony for future generations. Always at the forefront in defense of hunting, the section has actively participated in all events, both regional and national, such as the editions of "Pride Hunting" between Bergamo and Val Trompia.
