La Regional Council of Umbria has formalized the exact dates regarding the completion of the plans for slaughtering roe deer after the animal rights appeal that had effectively blocked the activity. We are talking about the male and sex specimens of Class 1 and Class 2. The sampling will be completed from February 2 to March 14, 2019, therefore it remains approximately a month and a half available. The selection can also take place on land covered, in whole or in part, by snow.
The Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) had spoken of an obvious error regarding the suspension of hunting pending the sentence of the judges of the TAR, a block that could have created imbalances among the male and female population of roe deer and fallow deer. Here's what he specified Fernanda Cecchini, Regional Councilor for Agriculture: "Given that the TAR of Umbria, with the sentence published on January 17, 2019, recognized the legitimacy of the acts put in place by the Region regarding the selection hunting of fallow deer and roe deer species.
In fact, it was allowed to exercise the same in the period from January 7 to March 14, an integration to the abatement plan was defined also in light of the fact that failure to complete the abatement plan of the male class would entail a strong imbalance in the sex ratio of the population of the roe deer species present on the regional territory. The decision also took note of the notes of the Umbria ATCs with which the total number of heads of the roe deer species were killed in the period from 17 June to 15 July, equal to approximately 42% of the heads admitted ".
